Peter Mandalh becomes CEO of Skellefteå Universities Alliance
The ability to adapt and further develop people's skills is a success factor for future regional and national competitiveness. The Skellefteå Universities Alliance (SUA) aims to find smart solutions to meet tomorrow's skills needs and Peter Mandalh is now being recruited as CEO.
SUA is a newly established foundation that will work to enable the development of new educational models and strategic collaborations between academia, business, and society.
The vision is to create a modern and inclusive model for lifelong learning that supports both the individual's and society's needs for adaptation and development in a changing world.
Peter Mandalh has been recruited as CEO of SUA. He has a solid background in innovation and development work, and since 2004 has been the CEO of the Skellefteå-based innovation and communication agency WDO, which has been involved in developing Skellefteå as a place to live and work. Peter has also worked on large collaborative projects within the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA).
– Peter has worked a lot on change and development work where actors from different parts of society must collaborate to move forward. It will be of great benefit to establish SUA, and we are very pleased that he is becoming the CEO of the foundation, says Peter Larsson, chairman of the board for SUA.
In the near term, the work is about building up the business, among other things, a coordinator and a communicator will be recruited.
– We will also develop the dialogue with educational institutions, the business community, and other stakeholders to create insights into the future skills needs and how we can best collaborate to meet them. Several educational institutions have shown interest in collaborating with SUA and our goal is to enhance the supply of higher education in Skellefteå by this autumn, says Peter Mandahl, CEO of SUA.
According to a report from the World Economic Forum, 23% of all jobs are expected to change by 2027. This will place new demands on skills development and transition, both regionally and nationally.
– Development is happening quickly, and we must find new ways to work with learning. Our ambition is to find relevant actors who can together develop flexible and accessible education that enables lifelong learning. SUA has a challenging and important task ahead of it, and I look forward to being a part of the work, concludes Peter.
