Do you dream of becoming a pilot – but have thought it is too expensive? Starting this fall, the playing field is changing. The commercial pilot program at Green Flight Academy in Skellefteå is now government-funded. This means that the education no longer costs several hundred thousand SEK in fees.
The pilot profession is not just a childhood dream for many. It is also a solid and international career path. The aviation industry is facing significant retirements and a growing demand for new pilots, both in Europe and globally.
The education in Skellefteå is 2.5 years and leads to the certificates required to work as a commercial pilot. You will receive both theoretical and practical training and fly modern training aircraft with a focus on safety, structure, and professionalism.
For those who want more
This is not a “soft” education. It requires discipline, focus, and responsibility. But for those who want to invest in something clear, qualified, and international, this is an opportunity that has previously been closed to many.
The fact that the education is now conducted within the vocational college system and financed with government funds means that more can choose the profession based on motivation and suitability.
Why Skellefteå?
Skellefteå offers good training conditions with less congestion in the airspace, clear seasonal variations (which provide valuable experience), and a focused study environment. You are not studying in the hustle and bustle of the city, you are training for a profession where precision and concentration are crucial. The education is conducted with one of the world's most modern fleets of aircraft. Green Flight Academy uses the first certified electric airplane for basic flight training.
Do you want a profession with responsibility, technology, international opportunities, and a clear path forward?
Then perhaps the Airline Pilot Program is something for you. Green Flight Academy has 18 state-funded study places per year during 2026, 2027, and 2028.
