Peter Mandalh appointed CEO of Skellefteå Universities Alliance

The ability to reskill people and develop their skills further is a key success factor for future regional and national competitiveness. The Skellefteå Universities Alliance foundation (SUA) aims to find smart solutions to meet tomorrow’s skills needs, and has now recruited Peter Mandalh as CEO.
SUA is a newly established foundation that will work to enable the development of new education models and strategic partnerships between academia, business and society.
The vision is to create a modern and inclusive model for lifelong learning that supports the need of both individuals and society to adapt and develop in a changing world.
Peter Mandalh has been recruited as CEO of SUA. He has a solid background in innovation and development work and, since 2004, has been CEO of the Skellefteå-based innovation and communications agency WDO, which has, among other things, been involved in developing Skellefteå as a place to live and work. Peter has also worked on major collaborative projects within the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA).
According to a report from the World Economic Forum, 23% of all jobs are expected to change by 2027. This will place new demands on skills development and reskilling, both regionally and nationally.
“Peter has done a great deal of change and development work in which stakeholders from different parts of society have to collaborate to make progress. That will be of great value in getting SUA established, and we are delighted that he is becoming CEO of the foundation,” says Peter Larsson, Chair of the Board of SUA.
In the near term, the work is about building up the organisation; among other things, a coordinator and a communications officer are to be recruited.
“We will also develop our dialogue with universities, businesses and other stakeholders to build insight into future skills needs and how we can best work together to meet them. Several universities have shown an interest in collaborating with SUA, and our goal is to be able to strengthen the range of higher education in Skellefteå as early as this autumn,” says Peter Mandalh, CEO of SUA.

“Things are moving fast, and we have to find new ways of working with learning. Our ambition is to find relevant partners who, together, can develop flexible and accessible education that enables lifelong learning. SUA has a challenging and important task ahead of it, and I look forward to being part of that work,” concludes Peter Mandalh.
